I am having a hard time trying to understand your problem so bear with me here but it sounds like you are trying to install the Curt TriFlex Trailer Brake Controller part # C24VV on your 2017 Chevrolet Colorado with the Universal Wiring Adapter part # C51515. If that is the case then you are off to a great start as this is the correct harness for your Colorado.
If your Colorado came with a factory 7-way then the wires you need to attach the harness to are already ran underneath the dash for you. Are you saying that these four wires have a different color than the Universal Wiring Adapter? If so then that is okay as the color doesn't need to match. The wires on the vehicle will be labeled and you can then match them to the wires on the Universal Wiring Adapter by function, not color. I wouldn't have any information on why the manufactures chooses certain color wires for certain functions.
Universal Wiring Adapter
Red Wire - Stop Light Switch
Black Wire - 12 Volt Power
White Wire - Ground
Blue Wire - Brake Output
If your Colorado did not come with a factory 7-way then the wires you need to attach the harness are not present and you need to run them yourself. In order to do this the best option we have is the Universal Installation Kit part # ETBC7.
