Procedure to Dolly Tow a 2015 Jeep Cherokee
Question:
I have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee Limited. I plan to tow my jeep on the ACME tow dolly. The instruction video indicates that the car steering should be in the unlocked position, My jeep is in the locked position when the engine is off. If I purchase your Battery disconnect switch, can the accessory power be disconnected, in order that the steering will be in the unlocked position, as suggested in the ACME tow dolly video ? Please advise me on the proper action I should take. However, when the front wheels are strapped down, they are rigged, and do not turn when the RV makes a turn. Why must the steering be in the unlocked position? Thank you very much.

According to the owner's manual for your 2015 Jeep Cherokee, the dolly towing procedure for your vehicle is as follows:
1. Properly secure the dolly to the tow vehicle, following the dolly manufacturer’s instructions.
2. Drive the front wheels onto the tow dolly.
3. Apply the parking brake. Place the transmission in PARK. Turn the engine OFF.
4. Properly secure the front wheels to the dolly, following the dolly manufacturer’s instructions.
5. Turn the ignition to the ON/RUN position, but do not start the engine.
6. Press and hold the brake pedal.
7. Release the parking brake.
8. Turn the ignition OFF, remove the Key Fob, and release the brake pedal.
If the steering wheel does not unlock while the ignition is in the ON/RUN position then you would need to contact the manufacturer for what is the best way to do so. I cannot confirm that disconnecting the battery would unlock the steering wheel. Unfortunately, we do not carry ACME tow dollies therefore I would not be able to tell you why they recommend having the steering wheel unlocked while in tow.
