Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring Running Light that Wants to Stay On When Connected to Tow Vehicle
Question:
I had to replace the plug on my trailer. The wiring was easy but as soon as I plug the trailer in to my truck the lights on my trailer comes on. As far as the lights signal, brakes everything works great. But when I park my vehicle and all the lights go out on my truck the tail lights on my trailer stays on. It didnt do this with the old plug.

Something might got miss-wired most likely when you replaced the old 7-way with the part # H20046. Since there are two different color codes for 7-way trailer wiring this isn't super rare.
Check out the diagram I attached that shows how the two styles get wired. This connector uses the RV Standard style in the center pic. It's also possible your running light circuit is somehow shorted to the 12 volt power circuit as well. Which isn't hard to do since the pins are right next to each other on top of the connector.
