Troubleshooting Brake Controller Showing No Trailer Connection

I have a prodigy brake controller I pulled out of a wrecked truck I hooked it up to my truck and it stays on all the time and just shows n.c On the screen even when I hooked it to a trailer

The N.C. you see on your Prodigy brake controller # 90885 shows there is not a recognized trailer connection. This means the wire on your 7-way for the brake controller output (at the 5 o'clock position) is not recognizing a trailer is connected because it doesn't see the power draw on that wire. The first thing to do is use a little sand paper to clean up that pin from any debris or corrosion and then use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test that pin for power.
If you still have the N.C. on your controller, then you will need to cut that output wire about 6 inches behind the controller and test it there. If the controller works when you put the tester on the wire coming out of the unit, then the controller is good and you will need to run # 10-1-1 wire from that location back to your 7-way. If the controller does not work, then you need to replace the controller.
