Can Breakaway Battery be Overcharged By 12V Circuit From Tow Vehicle 7-Way
Question:
I have a 12v 5ah battery for my break away switch. Is it okay to charge the battery with the tow vehicle and not overcharge the batter?

You can definitely use the 12V power from the tow vehicle's 7-Way connector to maintain the charge of your trailer breakaway battery. This circuit from the 7-Way carries enough power to maintain a battery but not enough to actually charge up a depleted one. With this in mind you do not need to worry about overcharging the battery as it will really only get a trickle-type charge during travel.
