Receiver Needed to Carry 2 Bikes on the Back of a 2002 Ford Expedition
Question:
Hi Experts, I have a 2002 ford expedition that has a big hole in the center of the rear bumper I attached a 2 inch trailer ball on this hole. the ball, after installed, is right in front of the license plate. See two attached photos. The green dots in the pictures mean there is hole that goes through the bumper. I am looking for a hitch receiver that will work with this 2 inch ball. All I need the hitch receiver for is to support a two bikes rack. is this doable? is there any other options? Note: I dont want to invest on one of those $150.00+ trailer hitch that are installed on the chasis. Thanks,

We do have a solution for you but I'm afraid it isn't what you want to hear. Unfortunately there are no adapters that allow a hitch receiver to mount on those locations under your bumper on your 2002 Ford Expedition.
If you want to carry 2 bikes on a hitch mount bike rack then you will need to install a trailer hitch like the Curt # C13049. This gives you a 2" receiver on your Expedition that will pair perfectly with the Swagman Trailhead #S63360 . The Curt warranty does require that a strap like part # 18050 be utilized when you are using the receiver for non-trailer loads like a bike rack.
The only way to accomplish what you are wanting is to have a shop fabricate a receiver for you which could end up costing more than the recommended trailer hitch and will have unknown weight ratings.
