Recommended Tail Light Wiring for Flat Towing 2017 Honda Fit

Question:

I am looking to set up a 2017 manual Honda Fit for Flat towing. From my previous Tow Vehicle, I have a Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar and RViBrake 3 Brake system. My question is in addition to the BX2261 Baseplate what tail light kit do you recommend. Also, instead of fuse bypass switches could a 12v feed from the RV be used to maintain the battery? if so any recommendation. Thanks

The Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX2261 referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 2017 Honda Fit and will work perfectly with your Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar.

For a tail light wiring kit I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This kit will let you wire the Honda Fit so that it accepts the basic signal lights from the RV needed for flat towing. This kit includes a 6-Way connector that you will mount to the front of the vehicle and enough coiled wiring to go from there to the 7-Way on the RV. Since all 6-pins will be active on the 6-Way connector, you can simply add the Roadmaster Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 to allow up to 15 amps from the RV's battery to be used to maintain the charge of your Honda Fit's battery when towing.

With that being said, I do still recommend following the owner's manual for your Honda Fit with regards to the fuses that need to be pulled. It's very possible that the battery on your Honda Fit may still drain with the fuses left intact depending on the length of your trip. The Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass # RM76511 and # RM76512 will help simplify this process.
