In order to mount your Yakima Space Cadet Cargo Box to the roof of your 2008 Honda Odyssey you will indeed need to add crossbars. For your Odyssey that features the factory raised side rails I recommend the Yakima CoreBar System. This roof rack consists of # Y00421 for the two 50 inch CoreBar Crossbars and # Y33TR for the TimberLIne Towers that will attach to the side rails.
I have attached a short video demonstration on this roof rack that you can check out.
As long as you still have the original mounting hardware for your Yakima Space Cadet Box, nothing else will be needed to secure the box to these crossbars. If you just have the box without the mounting hardware, then this will need to be added. The original hardware for the Space Cadet is no longer available from Yakima so your only option will be to use a kit from a different model cargo box or one from a different manufacturer. You may be able to use a standard U-bolt kit like the Yakima # 8870098 but keep in mind that you will likely need to make some modifications to the cargo box. These U-bolts measure 4-1/4 inches long center to center.
