We can help you get your 1997 Jeep Wrangler prepared for flat towing behind your motorhome.

Starting with base plates, I suggest the Roadmaster EZ5 kit # RM-521424-5 if you have either a U-channel bumper or a double tube bumper. If you have a tow-capable off-road bumper with 3/4-inch D-rings then you'll need adapter # RM-035 or adapter # RM-035-1 if the D-rings are 1-inch.

With these base plates you can use Roadmaster's Nighthawk All-Terrain Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-676 which includes safety cables and features built-in LED lights that both make it easier for other motorists to see you at night and that simplify nighttime hookup. I linked a video to show you the features of the Nighthawk All-Terrain tow bar. You'll also want to choose high/low hitch adapter such as # RM-076 to keep the tow bar level for best performance without. I linked our page for these adapters. I also recommend a protective storage cover # RM-055-3 for the Nighthawk to protect it from the elements.

A universal diode wiring kit # RM-152 will provide a simple installation and allow the Jeep's lights to be properly controlled by the motorhome without any interference or troublesome feedback. An install video is included for you. The Nighthawk comes with a 6-way wiring connector so it's easiest to cut the 4-way connector off of this kit and connect the wire's to the tow bar's connector. With this wiring you will use a Brake-Lite Relay Kit # RM-88400.

I recommend a one-time-install proportional braking system that, once installed, requires no further setup. The Stay-IN-Play DUO braking system # SM99251 will slow your Jeep at the same rate as the motorhome; this USA-made system comes with a 5-year warranty.

You'll use a Battery Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 to deliver a maintenance charge to the Jeep's battery while you tow.

In addition to the linked videos I included some helpful articles on flat towing that may be of interest.
