I HAVE A DEMCO AUTO SLIDE 21K AND A ROTO FLEX PIN BOX. I AM USING THE STANDARD SILVER LOCKING PLATE RATHER THAN THE GOLD ONES... IS THIS BAD?

I am not entirely sure as to what the standard sliver locking plate you are referring to is but the Demco Hijacker Autoslide Capture Plate part # DM6171 is correct for your Trailair Rota-Flex Pin Box. I cannot recommend you use any other capture plate than this and I would also not feel comfortable taking the risk as the capture plate is very inexpensive. I highly recommend you switch to the correct capture plate.

What you have is actually what's currently used on the Demco Hijackers like the part #DM8550022. The part #DM6171 is a special adapter for using the Hijacker with a Rota Flex cushioned pin box and that's why it is setup differently.
