Can an A-Frame Trailer Jack be Installed Using Screws and Nuts Instead of Bolts and Nuts
Question:
Can I use 3/8-24 regular screws with nuts instead of 3/8 bolts for installing the trailer jack? Why are bolts used instead of screws with nuts?

The preferred method of installing an A-Frame trailer jack such as # TJA-5000S-B is to use bolts, washers, and nuts because it is a lot easier to get enough torque on a bolt and nut than it is with a screw and nut. Is there something that is preventing you from using bolts? Do you have a surplus of 3/8" machine screws? I haven't seen a trailer yet that used screws. Assuming you can get enough torque to properly secure the jack and the screws are appropriately rated for the application then there isn't much difference between a bolt and nut and a screw and nut.
