Roof Cargo Carrier Recommendation for 2003 Toyota Sequoia to Keep Cargo Dry
Question:
Is the Surco Safari Rack the best suited for my 2003 Toyota Sequoia? I would definitely max out the space with a family of eight. I am assuming when I need a new car, this rack would fit on a newer Sequoia or similar vehicle. Is this correct? How do people waterproof the roof rack cargo in rainy weather/snowy weather? I assume tarps and cargo netting would suffice.

If your 2003 Toyota Sequoia has raised roof rails that run front to back that you can fit your hand under the Surco Safari Rack 5.0 Rooftop Cargo Basket for Factory Rails # SPS5084-1101 will fit it and work well.
Now that said since you are looking for a waterproof option your best bet would be to install a crossbar roof rack like part # MPG216 which is a confirmed fit and then install a large cargo box as they are the most waterproof. For that you'd want the Thule # TH629906 which can carry up to 22 cubic feet of storage space. Boxes like this will keep the cargo dry too. If you want to stay with the basket option, then the Curt Cargo Bag for Roof Basket - Waterproof # C18221 would be a great option.
