Roof Rack Recommendation for 2013 Honda Odyssey for Kayak Carrier, Bike Rack and Cargo Box

Question:

I need some advice and you guys rock. I have a 2013 Honda Odyssey with factory install side rails. Ultimately I want a cargo box, kayakj cradle and a bike on the roof I can lose the bike if needed. Is this even possible? If I start with the 65inch malone aero crossbars would I be able to get all that stuff up there. What would be the largest cargo box I could get with or without the bike up there? As an aside will 65inch crossbars stick out to far so should I go with 58 or 60? Thanks,

One thing you'll need to consider is the weight capacity of the roof of your 2013 Honda Odyssey. Our roof racks have capacities typically at 165 lbs as the highest which works for most applications but for bike, kayak, and cargo box that would most likely put you over the capacity for that.

For a roof rack the Malone roof rack part # MPG217 is a confirmed fit for the raised rails on your vehicle and will give you 65 inch long bars. This will give you plenty of room for accessories...but this rack has a 132 lb capacity. So that might limit your options. In the higher capacity of 165 lbs we have the Thule Aeroblade roof rack part numbers # TH711500 and # TH710401 which has a 60 inch bar length. I attached review video of this rack installed on a similar 2011 Honda Odyssey.

The Thule Motion XT cargo box part # TH629806 can carry up to 18 cubic feet of cargo space and takes up 36 inches in width. That would leave quite a bit of room for other accesorries as typically you can hang part of the box over the end of the bars.

A vertical kayak carrier like the Thule Stacker # TH830 would save room too for a bike rack like the Thule ProRide part # TH598004 .
