Installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller in a 2015 Cadillac Escalade
Question:
I just purchased a 2015 Cadillac Escalade. I know not all years and models have the connector that you can just plug in the brake controller cable but I would like to know if this year and model has one. I have the brake controller and I just purchased the harness and it has a connector on each end. One that connects to the brake controller and one that is suppose to connect to one on the vehicle that should be under the dash.

The 2015 Cadillac Escalade was available both with and without a factory tow package. A dealership may be able to run the vehicle VIN in their computer system to see how it is equipped. If it does have the factory tow package then you would use harness # 3016 to plug in the P2 brake controller # 90885.
The harness plugs into a junction box located under the dash on the driver's side, up near the fire wall above the carpeting. Take a look at the video I have linked that will help. If you plug in the harness and the brake controller does not power on there may be some connections that will need to be made under the hood. I have linked an article that can help and while it isn't exactly the same as your Escalade it will help you to know what to look for. You would need the second half of the help article after the chart.
If your Escalade does not have the factory tow package then there will be a bundle of wires to install a brake controller located up under the dash, to the left of the steering column, held together with a white tag. The tag shows the functions of the wires and on the brake controller the white wire is ground, black is 12 volt power, blue is output to trailer brakes, red is input from the brake switch.
You may also need # PK11916 if there isn't a 7-Way connector present already. And you may need to make the same connections under the hood mentioned above.
