Recommended Weight Distribution System for a 6,500 lb Trailer with a 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe

Question:

I have a 2009 Tahoe and I am in the process of purchasing a new travel trailer. The trailer has a 555 lbs dry tongue weight and a 6751 GVWR. Which weight distribution system do you recommend?

In order to choose the correct weight distribution system for your 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe and travel trailer you will need to base it off your total tongue weight. Total tongue weight is calculated by adding the loaded ready to tow tongue weight of the trailer to any cargo stored behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. You would then want the total tongue weight of your towing setup to fall in the middle of the weight distribution system's capacity.

Since the loaded tongue weight of a trailer should fall between 10-15% of its gross trailer weight (GTW) you could have a range anywhere from 600 lbs - 900 lbs. For this range, I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System part # EQ37100ET. This is a top of the line system that comes with four point sway control whereas most others only have two point sway control. It also comes with everything you need whereas others advertise a lower price but require additional parts for use which then brings the price up.

I have attached a review video on the above system for you as well.
