I highly recommend going with the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. This is a proportional brake controller that will apply the brakes on your trailer at the same time and with the same intensity as the brakes in your vehicle. The best feature about this brake controller is the LCD screen that makes operation and diagnosing any problems much easier than an older controller that only uses codes.
For your 2004 Ford F-250 you actually just need the P3 and the Adapter # 3035-P which plugs right into a connector under your driver's side dash. I have attached a video showing this exact installation for you to check out.
Since your 2000 Ford E-350 Van doesn't have anything for towing it will not be quite as simple but you will still be able to seamlessly transfer the brake controller between both vehicles.
You first need to install the T-One # 118344 which tees in behind your tail lights and provides you with a 4-Way connector for basic trailer lighting functions. The next step is installing the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 which includes everything needed for a fully functioning 7-Way that carries the brake controller signal. Since the body of your van is longer you may also need some additional wiring with the kit # 5506.
Now that your Ford Van is ready for the brake controller you just need to hardwire the pigtail that came with the controller and install mounting bracket # TK5906 or # 2178. The pigtail will need to be connected via the following:
Blue - 7-Way Output to Trailer
Black - 12V Power
White - Ground
Red - COLD Side of Stop Light Switch (only gets hot when brake pedal is pressed)
You will also need a trailer hitch like part # 14055 to tow with your van. I have attached some helpful videos and articles that you can use to complete the installations.
