Solution for Using Cargo Carrier While Towing Sea Doo Trailer with 2015 Honda Odyssey

Question:

I have a 2015 Honda Odyssey minivan, so the hitch is installed very low to the ground. I am going to be towing a Sea Doo trailer next month. I wanted to find a dual hitch so that I could also put a cargo carrier above the trailer for the Sea Doo. I know you make a dual hitch that works for that, however, the big issue is that since the minivan sits so low, a ball mount that has a 2inch drop makes the trailer tilt forward, instead of sitting close to parallel to the ground. I usually have to use a ball mount that has a 1inch rise. Is there anything you offer that would work for that? Thanks!

As you mentioned in your question, the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount # D210 is typically the best solution for what you are trying to do. With that being said, if the 2-1/4 inch drop on the ball platform won't allow you to tow the trailer level, it won't be the best product for your particular application.

We do have dual hitch adapters like # D-192 that will allow you to still use your ball mount with a rise, but this type of product will also reduce the overall capacity of your trailer hitch by 50 percent. This is a perfect solution as long as the combined tongue and total weights of the carrier and trailer do not exceed the reduced capacity on your hitch.

Otherwise your best option for transporting additional cargo may be with a roof rack and cargo box like the Trunx Rooftop Cargo Box - 18 cu ft - Black TRX34FR.

If you don't yet have a roof rack installed on your Odyssey, please let me know if it is completely naked or if it has factory rails that run front to back and I will be happy to recommend a compatible system.
