Recommended Roof Rack and Cargo Carrier for 2013 Toyota Corolla

Question:

Thanks Jason. When you say drilling is required, can you be more specific? What will I be drilling into? I don't see that detail in the spec online.

For your 2013 Toyota Corolla, I recommend the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRVA118B-2, the 2500 Series Legs # RRRLKVA, and the Custom DK Fit Kit # DK152. This is a confirmed fit for your vehicle. I also recommend the metal lock cores # RRVA-LEC4 for when you use the T-channel mounting for accessories that have that mount that fits in the slot on top of your crossbars instead of wrapping around them.

Then for your rooftop cargo carrier, I recommend the Thule Force XT Rooftop Cargo Box - 22 cu ft # TH6359B. I've attached a video of this installation that also gives you some of the features. This is a very durable box that will give you plenty of cargo space and is easy to use with access from both sides of the vehicle.

Thanks for the reply. The Thule is beyond my price range, I was hoping to keep the entire purchase under $750. Can you tell me the major differences between this Thule and the Cartop Cargo Box 18 cu ft? Also, could a cargo bag be an affordable alternative?

There are more economical options that will work well for your 2013 Toyota Corolla. I recommend the SportRack Semi-Custom Roof Rack for Naked Roofs - Square Crossbars - Steel - 50" Long # SR1002. Then you can use the SportRack Horizon Rooftop Cargo Box - 16 cu ft - Black # SR7016. This box weighs 43 lbs giving you a load capacity of 67 lbs on your roof based on the vehicle roof capacity rating of 110 lbs.

Jason, is the Cartop Cargo 18cuft too big for my car?

The Car Top Cargo Rooftop Cargo Box CTC-18S will work for your system. It has external dimensions of 56-1/2" long x 38-3/4" wide x 19" tall and the crossbar spread can be anywhere from 22 inches minimum to 31 inches maximum. Drilling is required and it installs with U-bolts and hand knobs. It will be a great choice for you...sorry I missed that in your previous question.
