Recommended Trailer Brake Assemblies and Hubs to Add Brakes to 3,500 lb Axle

Another question I have, now I am looking to convert my Cargo Mate trailer from no break to electric break, I would like some recommend from your expert The model of the trailer is: BL612SA, 1 axle, 3500lbs, ST205-78D15 tire

For your Cargo Mate trailer with 3500 lb axle, you will need the Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-35-SA. These will mount to the flanges on your axle using hardware # BRKH10B. If you don't have flanges, then I recommend the flange # 4-35 that will need to be welded by a professional with the correct jig.

Because almost all 3500 lb axles from all manufacturers use the same spindle size, you can then use the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern # AKHD-545-35-K or # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K if you have the spindles with the grease zerk on the end. These assemblies use bearing # L68149 (1.378" inner diameter) and # L44649 (1.063" inner diameter) if you want to ensure fit to your current bearings.

Then you can use the # 10-1-1 wiring sold by the foot to connect to your 7-way. If you don't already have a 7-way, then I recommend the # HS381-9000 with its attached junction box for easy connection using ring terminals # 44-5310A.
