Trailer Hitch for 2016 or 2016.5 Mid-Year Model Mazda CX-5
Question:
How do I know if I have a 2016 Mazda CX-5 or a 2016.5 Mazda CX-5? Looks like there are two different hitch styles. I’m not sure what to buy?

The best way for you to find out what model you have is to call your local Mazda dealer with your VIN and ask, but for the purposes of finding a trailer hitch that fits, you needn't worry. That's because the hitch I recommend, the Draw-Tite # 76138 will fit BOTH 2016 and mid-year model 2016.5 Mazda CX-5's.
This is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver and is a complete bolt-on installation. For wiring which will give you a 4-way connector and allow you to power your trailer's lights you need Wiring Harness # 118563 which also works with both models and will give you a 4-flat connector. If you are going to be towing, I recommend checking out Ball Mount Kit # 989900, which is for 2” hitches and may fulfill your towing needs in one tidy package; two ball mounts - one with a 3/4” rise or 2” drop and the other with a 2-3/4” rise or 4” drop - a 1-7/8” hitch ball, a 2” hitch ball, and a pin and clip.
