Recommendation to Reduce Rattle and Clunks with Lightweight Trailer

Question:

Im pulling a fairly light load 300 lbs, trailer included, and Im getting a lot of clunks and rattles as the trailer goes up and down on the ball hitch, especially as we go over pavement repairs like miniature speed bumps. I believe I have balanced the trailer correctly and the trailer beam is just above parallel to the ground. Do you sell any hitch adapters or products that might mitigate clunks and rattles? Also, do you have any recommendations for proper PSI for a 300-lb load?

Some couplers have an adjustable tension against the hitch ball from the trigger latch system. I recommend looking into that first as it will help keep the ball tighter within the connection. The lightweight trailer actually works against you on this noise because more tongue weight would keep pressure on the hitch ball and minimize that movement from a bump.

If there is movement of the ball mount then an anti-rattle like # 63232 for a 2 inch receiver will help by keeping the ball mount tight against the receiver.

For your trailer tire psi, only a few tire manufacturers offer a chart of tire pressures dependent on the load placed on the tires. For all others use the maximum PSI as noted on the tire. Using less than the maximum will significantly reduce the load capacity of the tire.
