Is it normal for the rear crossbar to be a little higher than the front one.

Following the side trails of your 2018 Subaru Crosstrek, the rear crossbar of the Malone # MPG215 roof rack system is both common and normal to be slightly higher than the front crossbar. The crossbars and legs are identical, so the connection location to your factory side rails will determine that fit. Further spacing may help to even out that height difference, but you will want to ensure your crossbar spread is appropriate for whatever you are carrying on your roof rack.
