Hitch, Wiring and Brake Controller for 2017 GMC Acadia Limited

Question:

I recently purchased an 2017 GMC Acadia limited. Want to install a trailer hitch for my pontoon boat and wanted to know what hitch to buy and install. Seen a lot of reviews on issues I dont want to have to deal with. Is there a difference in the GMC Acadia and The GMC Acadia Limited as far as the hitch installation or frame work???

The trailer hitches that fit the 2017 GMC Acadia are indeed different from those that fit the Acadia Limited. Hitches for the 2017 Acadia Limited are shown on the linked page. The one I suggest is the Draw-Tite 2-inch Class III model # 75528. I like this one for its combination of price, high towing capacity and simple installation. Written instructions and a helpful install video are linked for your reference. The hitch comes complete with all mounting hardware.

If your trailer has electric brakes you will also need a trailer brake controller such as the Prodigy P3 # 90195. Installation of the controller requires only harness # 3026-P if you have a factory 7-way trailer socket. If you do not have a factory 7-way you will also need kit # 118271.

Towing will also require a Class III ball mount with the amount of rise or drop needed to keep your trailer level when it is hitched, and a hitch ball of the size that matches your trailer's coupler. The easy way to have flexibility is to use a multi-ball adjustable ball mount like # C45900 which provides a range of height rise or drop and which includes the two most popular hitch ball sizes.

Two helpful articles on towing are included for your reference.
