Is Foam Piece Crucial to Replace for Install of the EcoHitch # 306-X7601 on a 2018 Outback wagon
Question:
Ive noticed that people mentioning the foam bumper cover on 2017 models either discard or shave down the foam piece, but some 2018 owners said it fit ok. Currently if I push on the plastic cover it seems to have some play, and seem more than enough to make up for the plate. Is the 2018 bumper fascia slightly different or are people forcing it on when using the foam cover without cutting it? I just ordered a hitch and wiring harness hoping I ordered the right one for my car.

There could be a slight design change with the fascia on your 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon as opposed to a 2017 model. I would say that if you can get everything to fit properly when installing the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7601 then you are good to go. If the foam piece doesn't allow you to properly fit your bumper back on then you can go ahead and discard it. It really isn't anything to be concerned about.
This trailer hitch is confirmed to fit your 2018 Outback Wagon as well as the T-One # 118467 that you ordered. If you don't already have a ball mount then I recommend going with the Curt Class III Ball Mount with 2" Ball - 2" Drop # C45036 but you will want to consult the attached ball mount article to determine if the 2" drop is what you need for your towing setup.
