How to Install Ground Wire for LED Light That Replaces Stud-Grounded Light
Question:
I am trying to wire in a set of led lights on my boat trailer. The old lights have 2 wires and the new ones have three, colored red, white, and gray. How do I know which one goes where?

Most likely the original lights you are replacing used the mounting hardware/stud to make the ground connection to the trailer frame. This is not unusual. A light such as # ST52AA uses the mounting stud to establish ground while the similar light # STL52ARB has a white wire for ground.
All you need to do is connect the new light's white ground wire to a clean bare metal spot on the trailer, using a ring terminal like # DW05737-1 or you could run a ground jumper wire up to a wiring junction box (like # HS381-9000) if one is installed on your trailer.
