How to Use Dexter Axles and Nev-R-Adjust Brakes
Question:
Thanks much as I measured with my grandson who is six and I was able to get and accurate measurement of 65 1/2 inches between spring mounts welded on axle center to center. However the measurement was around 85- 85 1/2 inches on the hubs with my 6 yr old holding on other side. Sooo.... close but not positive. Does that help some?

If you are looking for a new axle, too, the axle capacity you need would be based off of both the axle capacity you have now and the gross trailer weight (GTW) of the trailer. The axle kits do not include leaf springs. They would need to be purchased separately if you wanted to replace them. In order to recommend the correct axle for you, I would need to know the distance from the center of each spring seat and the distance between the hub faces (see photo). For example, the Dexter Trailer Axle w/ Electric Brakes part # 35545E-ST-89 has a 74" spring center and 89" hub face measurement. It has electric brakes and a 3,500 lb capacity. Some Dexstar axles sizes come with the EZ-Lube feature but not in this size.
You would not need to install a new axle to use the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # 23-468-469. These brakes will bolt onto the axle you have now and work with your existing hub/drums.
