Brake Controller Installation on 2018 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
Hello, I have a 2018 Tacoma TRD Off-Road 4x4 with the tow package. I purchased the Tekonsha P3 and wiring harness. Where do I plug in? I thought the location in the attached photo was for the harness but it does not fit the Tekonsha harness. Thanks

Your photo shows the OBD-II connection. This port is used for vehicle error codes and diagnostics. If your 2018 Toyota Tacoma has a factory 7-way trailer connector, then the Tekonsha Custom Wiring Adapter for Trailer Brake Controllers - Dual Plug In # 3031-P will plug into a wiring harness found behind the plastic molding on the far left side under the driver's side dash. I've attached a photo to assist as well as the installation details for your Tacoma.
If you do not have the factory 7-way, then you will need to use the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires # ETBC7 instead of the Tekonsha custom wiring harness to install your P3 # 90195. Another option is to use the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness w Brake Controller Adapter - 7 Way Trailer Connector # 22117. This will wire right up to your P3 controller when installed.
