Trailer Hitch for a 2006 Honda Odyssey and Black Widow Motorcycle Carrier

Question:

Would this hitch model be the best choice for my vehicle? I am planning on using a Black Widow motorcycle carrier for a Honda XR400 weighing about 300 pounds, and am concerned about ground clearance

Expert Reply:

Ground clearance issues are hard to avoid on vans such as your 2006 Honda Odyssey since they sit so slow to the ground. The hitch heights are all going to be relatively the same so it would be best to focus on the capacities of the trailer hitch used.

Draw-Tite hitch # 75270 has the 2 inch receiver you are going to need and it is rated for 675 pounds tongue weight. This is higher than the tongue weight capacity of the van though so be sure to consult the vehicle owner's manual for the tongue weight capacity and go by that. So the combined weight of the Honda XR400 and the Black Widow carrier would have to be less than the tongue weight capacity of both the vehicle and the hitch.
