What Is The Blue Connector For In The Glove Box Of The Ram 2500

Question:

We found the blue plug in the glove box. We bought the truck New with the tow package. It had both the 4 and 7 way plugs at the back. Any reason the blue plug would not be installed in the wiring bundle in your video? Could there actually be the same plug but a different color?

I will be happy to explain how why the blue plug would not be installed in the wiring bundle. The blue plug is an adapter that's used to install an after-market brake controller.

When installing a brake controller vehicles sometimes already have a plug and play connection under the dash. A plug and play connection is a connection that does not require the brake controller to be hardwired to the vehicle. Some brake controllers like # 90195 will need a plug or adapter like you have the # 3020-P to activate the brake controller.

As a result the factory plug was not installed in the video on the Dodge Ram Pickup, likely because we wanted to use our own product # 3020-P just in case another customer did not have the blue factory connector.
