How to Set a 2015 Nissan Frontier Up for Towing a Trailer with Brakes
Question:
Is the electric plug under bumper set for electric trailer Axels?

According to my research, your 2015 Nissan Frontier should have came with a 4-way trailer connector like part # HM43575 which would not have the circuits needed to operate electric brakes. In order to set your vehicle up for towing a trailer with electric brakes you are going to need either a 6 or 7-way trailer connector in addition to a brake controller.
For a 7-way trailer connector, I recommend using the 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat part # ETBC7. This trailer connector will allow for you to tow a trailer with electric brakes and contains everything else you need to install the brake controller. If your trailer connector is a 6-way and not a 7-way then you will still need the above kit but you will also need an adapter like part # 47549. I have attached a help article for you to show you what the different trailer connectors look like.
Then for a brake controller, I recommend using the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90885 with the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers part # 3050-P. This is one of our most popular brake controllers due to its integrated safeguards and continuous diagnostics checks. The adapter makes this a plug and play install as you can see in the attached video.
