Replacement Hub and Drum Assembly with 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern for a 1994 Doolittle Utility Trailer

Question:

The trailer has a gw of 7000 lbs however the axle weight is obscured and unable to read. I had purchased 4 new rims 15 inch x 6 inch 5 lug with a 4.5 inch inch center. I found out that I didnt measure properly as my center was 4.75 inch so I thought that if I could buy 4 drums with 4.5 centers for my new rims it would be more cost efficient. U fortunately I had the tires mounted before discovering my error. The information I have that read on the existing drums was MAX DIA 10.090 AL-KO 7230 I not sure what it means. So can someone help me please

From the information that you gave me it sounds like you have two 3,500 lbs axles on your trailer. Although I cannot guarantee a fit, I can let you know how to determine that on your end.

Typically 3,500 lb axles have #84 spindles which means you would need the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # 84546UC3 (x4) for your axles. This is a 10" assembly that has the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern that you mentioned.

To ensure that this is the correct assembly for your application you just have to compare the bearings and seal of this assembly with what you currently have. This assembly uses the inner bearing # L68149 and outer bearing # L44649. The grease seal, part # 58846, has a 1.719" inner diameter which is where it sits on your spindle.

If you cannot find part numbers then you simply need to measure your spindle with a digital caliper like part # PTW80157 where the bearings and seal rides. I have attached a photo showing where you need to measure.
