Availability of Firestone Air Command Compressor II Kit with Smaller Air Tank
Question:
Hi- I recently purchased airbags for my truck 2015 Silverado 2500 HD Airlift 5000 Ultimate. I dont do a ton of towing but want an onboard air system for when I occasionally do. Truck is currently leveled front end 3 1/2 inch suspension lift, rear suspension is stock height. I initially purchased the Airlifter 72000 wireless setup but its extremely annoying my daily driver how the regulator releases a small bit of air EVERY time I turn on the ignition. Often the compressor turns on briefly when ignition is first keyed up as well. Im thinking about changing setups and going with something wired and that can be used to air up tires occasionally as well. Anyway.... Comparing other options it seems this one might fit the bill Firestone F2549 . Do you have any other recommendations? Im a bit concerned it will be difficult to find a place to mount the tank. Also, is there an option for a smaller tank or no tank at all? At what pressure does the air compressor turn on if the tank gets low? Also, with this setup how long would it take to air up a 275 65 20 tire to 80psi probably from 20psi. Wondering how viable his would be to air up tires this size after off-roading 4 tires and not having to wait an extremely long time. Thanks,

The tank of the Firestone compressor kits like the # F2549 is required if you want to inflate a tire according to my contact at Firestone. I asked about an option with a smaller tank and they recommended the Air Command II part # F2168. Firestone also mentioned that the bigger the tank the faster it will inflate a tire but could not give me specifics on how fast it can inflate a tire like yours. The 1/2 gallon tank can be filled from 0 to 30 psi in 7 seconds and 0 to 60 psi in 18 seconds so that would give you a pretty good idea.
The pressure in the tank gets filled manually when you need more air in it. This is not an automatic filling setup.
