Recommended Trailer Hitch Extender for Truck Bed Camper and Boat Trailer Combination

Question:

Hi there, I have a 1997 ram 3500 with 8 ft box dually. I have a 10.6 camper. I need some sort of extension to haul my boat. I had a 18” extension that took my hitch from 6500lbs 7500 w.d hitch down to a 4000lb hitch reese 11004 it worked great, until i sold my boat and bought a slightly bigger one. My new boat and trailer will be between 5000-5500 lbs. i am looking for some sort of an extension, perhaps not 18” long, but maybe 12? Or even 8. That wouldnt reduce my hitch by as much, but still help me out somewhat. I am getting a custom trailer built with a longer tongue... but its nice to get a bit of an extension, as on a steep hill the angle of the tongue could perhaps touch the bottom of my camper overhang or worse, tear one of my jacks off the corner. Please help me lol

The Roadmaster Hitch Extender for Tow Bars - 2" Hitches - 11" Extension # RM-071 is the only extension we have to fit your combination as it stands. The only other option you have for that trailer weight is to get a Torklift hitch and a SuperTruss Extension that would be longer but also stronger. They are really well made, and will cost you some money, but would definitely be the best option for your application.

If you let me know the year/make/model of truck, I'll be happy to further assist with getting you a safe option.
