To use a brake controller on your 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser you need to start off with a 4-Way connector like part # 118405. Once that is installed you need the Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 which comes with everything needed for a fully functional 7-Way and a 4-Way connector.
For a brake controller I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. This is a proportional brake controller that will apply the brakes on your trailer at the same time and with the same intensity as the brakes in your vehicle. The best feature about this brake controller is the LCD screen that makes operation and diagnosing any problems much easier than an older controller that only uses codes.
I have attached an installation video of the T-One being installed on a 2014 FJ Cruiser as well as a video of the Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160 and the # ETBC7 Kit being installed on a FJ Cruiser. The Prodigy P3 installs the same way as the Primus IQ.
