Brake Controller Installation in 2014 Chevy Silverado 3500
Question:
Great instructions. Tried to do this this past weekend. Had the wrong cable, ordered a 3016 cable. Heres my question! My truck is wired 7 pin for trailer lights, turn signals etc, they work, hooked up this past weekend, but no brake controller. What else do I need to do. I bought a techtronic think thats the name I saw a blog for a 3500 silver that said cut the blue wire etc. Do I need to unplug some other harness that powers the 7 plug now?

In a 2014 Chevy Silverado 3500 that has a factory 7-way trailer connector the installation of a trailer brake controller such as the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 will utilize the existing wiring present under the dash. There is no quick-connect port for a brake controller on your particular truck so harness # 3016 is not needed.
Brake controller wiring is uniform across brands and models. All use the same 4-wire connection, as follows:
The controller BLACK power wire provides 12V operating power; the RED wire provides the brake light switch signal to tell the controller to generate output; the WHITE wire is ground; and the BLUE wire is the controller output that is to be routed to the pin on the 7-way connector.
Please refer to the linked video to see how to access the existing wiring in your truck.
