Can Thule Force XT Rooftop Cargo Box Mount Directly to Camper Shell?
Question:
I wish to mount the thule force xxl rooftop ago box 21 cu ft-aeroskin on top of my 8 ft fiberglass camper shell. Question 1: to keep height down to minimum, can I mount cargo box directly to roof of camper shell WITHOUT using rails and crossbars? I want a low profile. Question 2: Ideally, I would like this aerodynamic shaped box to 4 ft wide. Is there a factory made cargo box with that dimension? Thank you for your answers.

You are going to need to mount the Thule Force XT # TH6358B directly to crossbars on top of your camper shell as there is no way to secure it without a rack system of some type. I recommend using the Swagman Roamer LT Roof Rack # S80510, which has square crossbars which are 1-3/16" wide x 1-3/16" tall that the Force XT will fit. This rack will need to be spaced between 23-5/8" and 35-1/2" on top of your camper to work with Force XT cargo box.
There are no rooftop boxes which are 4' wide because the boxes generally go on top of passenger vehicles that may not have quite that much space between the crossbars. The Force XT# is 33-3/4" wide and does give you 18 cubic feet of capacity as well as an aerodynamic shape and low profile and would be a great choice for the top of your camper.
