Why Does Breakaway Kit of Titan Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Require Wiring to Battery
Question:
Why does the Titan EOH brake need its own batteries for the break away brakes? Why cant you just wire it up to a fused wire off your 5th wheel or TT batteries?

Expert Reply:
Breakaway kit by law need to be able to hold the brakes of a trailer for a specific amount of time so that the trailer would be effectively stopped in the case of an emergency uncoupling. You could wire this kit to your trailer battery as it most likely has the power to activate the system, but straight to the 12 volt circuit of the trailer wiring wouldn't be ideal since that power would get shut off if wiring came disconnected. Which would happen if the trailer uncoupled on the highway.
