Best Hitch Mounted Bike Carrier for 2 iGO Metro Elite e-Bikes
Question:
Hitch mounted bike carrier for two IGO METRO ELITE e-bikes? What would you recommend for the above? These bikes do not have a cross member as they are a step through style, hence our concern for a proper support connection. The weight without the battery on each bike is 53 lbs. We have 2 different vehicles in mind to place on. One the back of a Honda Ridgeline with a 2” receiver the other the back of a 22’ motorhome - or the front of it if possible. Thank you .

Normally for bikes with step-through frames we recommend going with a bike rack that holds the bikes by their wheels, but since your iGo Metro Elite e-Bikes have fenders a wheel mount option won't work.
I recommend going with the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202 for a few different reasons. It is compatible with 1-1/4" and 2" receivers, if has a weight capacity of 65 lbs per bike (so you may not even have to remove the battery), it comes with a ramp for easy loading, and it secures the bikes with clamps. The clamps are on arms that allow you to adjust them to grab on to a wide variety of bike frame styles that have bike tubes with a max diameter of 3-1/8" so it should work great for your application. It won't work with the rear hitch on your motorhome, but will work with the front hitch.
The EasyFold comes with bike and rack locks to secure your gear. It also has a folding feature for easy storage and a tilting feature (with your bike loaded) so that you can gain rear access to a variety of vehicles. The max tire width that this rack can accommodate is 3" (4-11/16" with fat tire strap) and the max wheelbase is 48".
