Determining Max Trailering Capacity for Truck When Towing 5th Wheel Trailer

Question:

Im looking to get a fifth wheel RV. The specs say max trailer is 11,400lbs. Is that weight rating just for the bumper pull? Or does this apply to fifth wheel too? Thanks

The towing capacities of vehicles are often different for 5th wheel trailers than the rated bumper pull location rating. There are normally manufacturer listings that are different in their towing guide that will be different based on engine size, transmission, axle ratio, 2WD versus 4WD, and Cab/Bed Size.

You will simply put your year/make/model and 5th wheel towing guide into a search engine and the manufacturer guide will come up as one of your options most of the time. If not, let me know the information listed above and I'd be happy to assist.
