Troubleshooting Hopkins Custom Wiring Harness for Towing a 2011 Jeep Wrangler
Question:
I purchased the Hopkins tail light custom wiring kit for towing my 2011 Jeep Wrangler. After installation I discovered that even though the turn signals and brake lights work, if I turn on the tail lights on my motorhome the tail lights on the Jeep will not turn on. Is there something wired wrong? Thanks

On your 2011 Jeep Wrangler, the battery needs to be disconnected for towing so there may be an internal issue with the wiring if you have not disconnected the battery. I recommend using the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch for Towed Vehicle # RM-766 for this function. If your lights still don't work with the Jeep battery disconnected, then I recommend checking your Motorhome's wiring harness with a circuit tester like # PTW2993. If there is correct function on each pin of the 4 way, then I recommend checking the ground connection on your Hopkins # HM56200 harness for a bare metal to metal connection and then testing each function at the tail lights to see if you are getting the proper power.
