Connecting 4-Way on 1987 Chevy Truck to 7-Way on Trailer

Question:

My 4 way trailer pin has only 4 wires which are as follows Green for right turn Yellow for Left turn White for ground Brown for tail Lights The Pollak 7 pin on our car hauler has following #1 White #2 Brake #3 Green #4 Black #5 Red #6 Brown Then there is a middle pole not marked What would be proper way to hook this up. I would think white to white, Green to green, Brown to Brown but what does yellow hook up to? Trailer does have brakes but not using them at this time. We just want to be legal with lights and turn signals.

If I am understanding correctly you are attempting to hook up the 4-flat on your 1987 Chevy to the 7-blade on your trailer and to do that you simply need adapter # 30717.

In regards to the connection, the colors are going to differ a bit based on the style of connector you have; for example the Pollak # PK12706 is an RV style connector which has the following functions:

Blue: electric brake
Green: tail lights
Red: left turn signal and brakes
Brown: right turn signal and brakes
Yellow: auxiliary and reverse lights
Black: battery
White: ground wire

You can see this in the accompanying diagram showing Traditional and RV Standard 7-way. The Pollak fits in the "RV Standard" category.

I've added a link to a video review of the adapter for you to check out, as well as a link to a help article on wiring which you may find useful.
