Can Andersen Ultimate Fifth Wheel Adapter be Used with Truck that has 5-1/2 Foot Bed

Question:

Will the Anderson unltimate hitch allow me to pull a 5th wheel travel trailer with my 5.5’ f150? It looks like they have a couple different ways to gain clearance when setting the hitch up but no true answer. I do f want to use a heavy traditional slider because I’ll be taking the hitch in and out.

For a truck with a 5-1/2 foot bed you would not get the clearance needed with the Andersen Ultimate # AM3200. Only lighter weight option will be for you to install a Sidewinder on your trailer in place of it's pin box and then go with a stationary hitch.

Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one.

There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.

Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.

A popular stationary hitch is the Reese part # RP30047. This hitch weighs 97 lbs.
