Will Rear View Camera and Blind Spot Detection Work After Installing EcoHitch on 2017 Outback Wagon
Question:
I have a 2017 Subaru Outback 3.6R Touring with a rear view camera, blindspot protection and safety automatic rear access braking. Will the installation of an EcoHitch trailer interfere with any of these functions? Will the standard etrailer.com recommended 2017 Subaru Outback wiring harness plug work for my vehicle? Also, does removal of the foam under the bumper lead to the bumpers warping due to intense heat, such as in S. Florida weather?

I spoke with my contact at EcoHitch who said that installing the Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7601 on your 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon will not cause you to lose any of the functions that you mentioned, nor will removing the foam cause your bumper to warp.
The trailer hitch does take up some of that extra space and if you are skeptical about it I suppose you could trim up your foam but that could get frustrating since it would need to be just right. I have attached an installation video of this hitch on a 2017 Outback Wagon for you to check out.
The Tekonsha T-One # 118467 will work with all models of the Outback Wagon aside from the Sport. If you check out the linked installation video you can see how to get to the connector starting at the 2:19 mark.
One of the most popular ball mount/hitch ball kits on our site is theCurt # C45036 which comes with a 2" hitch ball and has a 2" drop. It also comes with a hitch pin and clip which is all you will need for a complete towing setup. I attached a helpful ball mount article that you can check out to ensure that this kit is the correct one for your application.
