Easy Way to Carry 12 Volt Charge Circuit to Vehicle being Flat Towed Through Tow Bar Wiring

Question:

I cannot find a tow bar plug from our motor home, which has a 6 way plug instead of a 7 way, to our vehicle using the Hopkins brake light wiring, Item # HM56108, which is a 4 or 5 pole flat plug. However, we want the vehicle to also have a 6 pole because we want a line to go to a supplemental battery charger. HELP! Im going nuts trying to find a connector, 6 way from motor home, to 6 pole on the vehicle. Are there any adaptors that might do this? What battery charger would work, too?

Expert Reply:

What you will need to do is remove the 6-way on your tow vehicle and replace it with a 7-way socket like part # HM48480 so that you can use the umibilical wiring adapter # RM-146-7 which can carry the 12 volt circuit that can charge the battery.

You'll need to remove the 4-way of the harness you have installed on your vehicle so that you can install the 6-way of this kit in it's place. The charge circuit of this can then be ran directly to your vehicle battery and when connected will charge the battery.
