What Is Needed To Replace An Old Axle With A New Axle
Question:
I am thinking about replacing the full axle assembly on my Haul Master trailer Model 90154. My question is how much custom fabricating will I need to do. Will it be a simple remove the old axle and bolt on the new? Or will I have to custom fit the suspension somehow. The part number for the axle I am interested in is # 20440I-EZ-60.

The Dexter Trailer Idler Axle Kit, Item # 20440I-EZ-60, includes most of what you need to complete the axle change and installation. It has a 2,000-lbs weight capacity and is fairly easy install (see attached video). I also encourage you to double-check your measurements to make sure you are getting the right kit for you and your trailer.
This Dexter kit will include a straight trailer axle that measures 60 inches from hub face to hub face and 48 inches from spring center to spring center. It also has idler hubs with bearings, races, seals. It also comes with EZ-Lube spindles. While changing everything, I also recommend getting a new u-bolt kit like the U-Bolt Kit for Mounting Round Trailer Axles, Item # APUBR-10. You will need to measure from the bottom of the cross member to the bottom of the bolt posts to make sure a good fit (see attached picture and video).
I am attaching additional information and videos to assist you with your axle project.
