ST205/75-14 Trailer Tires for Summer Heat and Highway Speeds on a Boat Trailer
Question:
I tow a 19’ Bass boat every summer from Florida to Missouri usually in 90/98 degree plus heat at highway speeds of 70 to 78 MPH. I dont load anything extra into the boat, yet every year I have one or two blowouts. I have been running Goodyear Marathon ST 205/75 R14 Load range C. I’m looking for a tire that can handle the heat and speed. Is # AM10235 the BEST tire I can get? Should I increase the tire size? This Boat/trailer was purchased as a package, I suspect the weight is close to the Max. For the load range C tires. How long does it take to get these tires?

Karrier tire # AM10235 is a great option. This is a radial tire and radials run cooler than bias ply tires. This tire is rated for 81 miles per hour and 2,200 pounds at 75 psi.
Many trailer tires are rated for 65 miles per hour unless otherwise stated on the tire so that could be the problem. Another issue is the amount of air pressure you have in the tires. Trailer tires should be inflated to the maximum psi indicated on the tire. This is because trailer tires are built with thick sidewalls to handle more vertical load. If under inflated that thicker sidewall generates excessive heat and leads to failure.
