Recommended 7-Way Trailer Connection for 2006 Acura MDX

Question:

I recently purchased a 118336 T-one Wiring Harness for my 2006 Acura MDX for my Trailer lights. It worked great when i plugged it into a Uhaul trailer with the normal plug, but it is not working for my small RV with the seven way, do I need a different piece? Is there a problem with the power demand from the trailer versus what the 4 pole trailer connector has for output?

Since you already have the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118336 you will need to add a 7-way adapter like # 30717 to get your 7-way connection. Because your RV most likely has trailer brakes, I recommend you use the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat # ETBC7. This kit will give you that 7-way adapter but will also give you the wiring, connectors, and circuit breakers needed to install a brake controller so you will have a fully functional connection at your bumper for your RV.

The difference between the 4-way and the 7-way connections is the additional reverse function, electric brake function, and 12V power.

Then for your Trailer Brake Controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. This is a proportional controller that will apply the trailer brakes at the same time and with the same intensity as you hit the brake pedal in your MDX. It has an easy to understand LCD screen and preset boost options to make diagnostics quick and requiring no code deciphering.
