Is There a Typical 5th Wheel Hitch Head Height Setting

Question:

I am putting a Curt Q24 in my 2016 GMC 2500 duramax 4whl drive it is mounted on the slider base with a mounting plate X5 that utilizes my gooseneck trailer setup. I have purchased a 2016 Jayco eagle 27.5 fifth wheel to pick up next week. Since I dont have the trailer, is there like a typical height I can set the hitch up for. Once I get the trailer home Ill get the measurement that I need to set the hitch up to the right height. Thanks

There is no typical height setting that 5th wheel pin boxes sit at, but I would just keep your Curt Q24 # C16546 at whatever setting it is already at.

Once you get your 2016 Jayco Eagle you can then get it on level ground and measure from the ground to the king pin plate on the pin box. After that you then need to measure from the ground to the height of your Q24 hitch head and adjust as necessary.

Please note that we recommend having at least 5" - 6" of space between your trailer and the bed rails on your 2016 GMC Sierra 2500, and then at least 4" - 5" of space from the trailer to your tailgate when turning. I have attached a picture to demonstrate those measurements.
