How to Pick Out Weight Distributin System for Lance 1995 Travel Trailer

Question:

Just bought this used trailer and truck set up. What hitch do you recommend for this set up? I prefer that the antisway set up allows me to back up and I never need to disconnect anti sway. Tow vehicle is a 2015 Ram 1500 Laramie Eco Diesel. Does it compromise the trailer frame to drill holes in it for an anti sway device? If so, would prefer anti sway that does not require any drilling into the frame. I look forward to your recommendations.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

Once you know your tongue weight you will want to check out the link I attached that has all of the weight distribution systems we carry. You will be able to select your tongue weight from the filters to see what would be rated for your setup.

For example, we have the Equal-I-Zer kit part # EQ37120ET which has a tongue weight range of 800 - 1,200 lbs and uses 4 points of friction sway control built into the system and does not require frame drilling. This also allows backing up as long as you don't jacknife the trailer.
