Recommended Lippert SolidStep 4-Step Model for 5th Wheel Trailer 29-3/8 Inch Inside Door Measurement

Question:

Hello, looking for something more solid for steps getting in and out of my 5th wheel. My wife recently had a knee replacement and soon to get other done. She has difficulty getting in and out of the rv on stock wobbly steps. She even fell off if them trying to get in the camper. My fifth wheel stock steps have 3 steps but seems as we always need an additional step platform at the bottom. My rv door is a 30inch the inside frame measures 29 3/8inch and inside measurement flange to flange is about 28 - 28 1/8. I measured ground up to top of threshold and it is about 39inch . Im not sure that the 5th wheel was exactly level. Which model of solid step do I need. Would like a 4 step one

Based on the RV door measurements you provided, I recommend going with the Lippert SolidStep Manual Fold-Down Steps # LC791574. This particular 4-Step model is designed for 26" to 29-7/8" wide RV doors but it will work with the slightly larger dimensions you mentioned, as it features an adjustable flange that will allow it to fit just fine.

This is a really nice, stable 4-step assembly with adjustable legs that will let you keep the steps level to reduce any bounce or movement when getting in and out of your RV. The anti-slip design on the steps offer excellent traction and its lightweight aluminum construction makes lifting and lowering the steps a breeze. The drop/rise on the steps (distance between steps) is 8 inches.

One item you might consider adding is a handle like the Lend-a-Hand # AM-300. This will mount to the RV sidewall to provide a sturdy rail that can be grabbed onto for extra security and convenience as you or your wife climb into and out of the RV.

I have attached a couple short video demonstrations on these products that you can also check out.
